Bird Safety Window Tinting

For birds, glass windows are even more dangerous than being invisible. When they reflect trees or the sky, they can appear as if they are open spaces to fly into. And with so many windows around, their impact on birds is enormous. According to a 2014 study, up to 1 billion birds die from window collisions in the U.S. each year.

What happens to birds that strike windows? Unfortunately, many of them die, even if they initially fly away after being stunned. Often, these birds later succumb to internal injuries, including bleeding or bruising, especially in the brain. Daniel Klem of Muhlenberg College, who has studied this issue since the 1970s, explains, “Glass is an indiscriminate killer that takes the fit as well as the unfit of a species’ population.”
